Sustainable together

The success of Elengy's environmental and social policies stems from our ability to address our society’s main challenges. On the one hand, by ensuring security of supply and, on the other, by committing to decarbonization. Our raison d'être aims to convey that :

« The purpose of the men and women of Elengy is to provide access to increasingly safe and sustainable energy and thus contribute to addressing the planet’s environmental challenges. That is our purpose and pride. »

Our social and environmental responsibility begins with operational excellence

Efficiently carrying out ship unloading, regasification and delivery operations, or loading micro-LNG carriers and tankers – all while avoiding fugitive emissions and other process inefficiencies : that implies constantly monitoring our equipment and energy consumption.

A cluster benefiting the environment

Together, we can face the challenges of the energy transition

People are essential to Elengy's business. Our terminals operate safely thanks to our employees’ expertise. We value their commitment and know-how, and encourage their personal development and well-being at work. We are proud to rely on passionate people who contribute to the success of the energy transition.

Professional equality Index

The law of September 5, 2018, “for the freedom to choose one's professional future,” establishes an obligation for all companies to achieve equal pay between women and men.
The principle adopted is that of an annual calculation of five indicators that reflect the situation of pay gaps between women and men in the company. The result is communicated in the form of an index with a score between 0 and 100 points. This calculation is carried out each year on the basis of data from the previous year.

In the event of unsatisfactory results (index below 75 out of 100), the company is required to implement an action plan to improve the situation within three years.
Beyond the legal requirements, at Elengy, we believe that gender equality is a factor in social progress, enriches our teams, and contributes to our company's performance. Our actions have significantly improved our index.
In 2025, our index score is 80. We are continuing our efforts to at least maintain this result!

Elengy, a company moving towards a low-carbon world

In order to achieve a successful transition, we have defined three strategic guidelines that lead our actions and investments:

  • Reducing the carbon footprint of our business and assets,
  • Assisting in the the decarbonization of heavy trucks and boats,
  • Contributing to the decarbonization of industrial plants around our terminals.

That way, we are gradually transforming our LNG terminals into multi-service hubs for decarbonization.

Our commitments

In 2021, Elengy launched an ambitious company project titled 'Reinventing 2025', aligned with our mission to "provide access to ever safer and more sustainable energy and thus contribute to facing the planet's environmental challenges". This project illustrates our commitment to social responsibility. Our commitments to corporate social responsibility (CSR) are anchored in a CSR policy implemented by all our departments.

In our quest for continuous improvement, we publish an annual report detailing our significant progress related to our CSR policy. This report is also the vehicle for communicating our carbon footprint, demonstrating our transparency and determination to reduce our ecological footprint.

What does European law state?

European Directive 2003/55/EC of 26 June 2003, also called the “Gaz Directive” defines the rules for the internal European natural gas market. Unanimously adopted by all of the European Union member states, it provides a framework for all of Elengy’s activities and sales practices. Its purpose? “Ensure the free movement of gas and reinforce secure supply and industrial competitiveness in Europe”.

Our codes of good conduct

As a regulated facility operator, Elengy has a Code of Conduct laying down its commitments to its customers. This Code of Conduct is distributed to all employees.

The Fosmax LNG Code of Conduct provides every company employee with a set of common rules to be followed in all dealings with the companies to which the company sells its LNG terminal access services. These rules are designed to protect commercially sensitive information (CSI), ensure that there is no discrimination between customers, and safeguard information transparency and confidentiality.

Safety first and foremost

We ensure that all our sites are operated under optimal safety conditions by following an internationally recognised reference since 1998: the International Sustainability Rating System (ISRS©). Today the Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal meets level 6 of the ISRS9©, i.e. one of this rating’s highest levels.

Our security film

Discover a dynamic film, common to the three Elengy terminals.

Through this film produced on the Montoir-de-Bretagne and Fos sur Mer LNG terminals, we discover a typical day within our installations, the specific documents for carrying out work safely, the properties of LNG and the risks of LNG terminals;

This film is designed to be presented to all new people arriving at our SEVESO sites, Elengy employees, employees of external  suppliers and service providers, and visitors.

The 6 rules of safety at our terminals

  • Anticipate and reduce risks at source
  • Comply to regulations in force
  • Implement reactive organisations and systems against eventualities
  • Monitor our facilities and activities in a continuous way
  • Detect and address any discrepancies in operations
  • Communicate in a transparent way with our stakeholders

Did you know? We guarantee the health and safety of not only all our employees but our service providers too. The 6 rules in our safety policy help us to identify dangers and manage risks as best as possible for all people working at our sites.

What is the International Sustainability Rating System (ISRS9©)?

The ISRS9© is an international reference system on safety, created by an independent organisation, DNV (DNV - International services company in quality and risk management). In 1998 we adopted this in order to meet industrial best practice in safety at our terminals and to benefit from the regular, external auditing of our organisation and its performance in this area.

As safety is our number 1 priority, we obtained ISRS9© level 6 at our Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal in 2020. This success shows that our safety performance continues to be at its highest level.

For us safety is an absolute priority. By monitoring the safety of our terminals we are not only protecting our facilities but also the people who work there and the surrounding environment. 4 key dates to be retained:

  • 2009: our Montoir-de-Bretagne site is the first site in France to achieve level 7 of the ISRS6© standards. This level extends its scope beyond health/safety to include matters relating to sustainable development.
  • 2011: it is the turn of our Fos Tonkin terminal to achieve level 7 of the ISRS6©.
  • 2014: the ISRS8© audit undertaken by the DNV confirms that level 7 for the entire Montoir-de-Bretagne site is to be maintained.
  • 2020: the ISRS9© audit conducted by DNV granted the Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal with the level 6, of the new version 9, applied for the first time in France.

Focus on prevention!

Along with a risk prevention organisation we have developed the Company Safety Improvement Manual (French: MASE), safety management programmes which are given to all companies that work at our sites. We incite our service providers and partners to adhere to these programmes that guarantee a high level of safety!

Ethics & Compliance: our Codes of Good Conduct

Our codes of Good Conduct bind us in relation to our clients. Protection of sensitive information, non-discrimination and transparency: find out about our three main undertakings.

Filaire / code bonne conduite

Where do these Codes of Good Conduct come from?

At Elengy, we have established a Code of Good Conduct in line with the ENGIE Group’s ethical approach and rules set by the Energy Code. In practice, we have undertakings in this Code to meet the laws and regulations in force, whatever the circumstances. It also accompanies us on a daily basis in all our strategic decisions, our managerial and professional practices. It is distributed to all Elengy employees upon their arrival in the Group.

In parallel and for the same reasons, Foxmax LNG, co-owner of the Fos Cavaou  terminal, also has its Code of Good conduct applicable to all its activities.

These Codes of Good Conduct embody the undertakings by Elengy and Fosmax LNG complying with the obligations of the Energy Code.

What are the 3 mains undertakings?

visuel / code bonnes conduite

1. The Protection of Sensitive Information (ICS)

we undertake not to disclose the name, the company name, the quantities, the length, as well as all individual and specific information in established contracts (except on explicit authorisation of our clients). To honour this undertaking, we raise our employees’ awareness and their accountability and we have a suitable system to protect our information system.

2. Non-discrimination

we undertake to respond to our clients in a transparent and fair way. This covers the processing of service provision invoices to LNG carrier terminal access operations, to contract management.

3. Transparency

we undertake to publish access information on the services we provide. Upstream to each publication or update, a compliance officer checks our prices, our reservation methods, how we allocate capacity and our operational data. This thereby guarantees compliance of our information with the laws and regulations in force.
