Elengy constantly develops its LNG truck loading facilities -launched in 2013 at Montoir-de-Bretagne and in 2014 at Fos Tonkin terminal- and adapts its stations to the growing needs of its customers. The station at the Fos Tonkin terminal can accommodate up to 22 trucks a week, and Montoir-de-Bretagne tripled its initial loading capacity from 22 to 70 truck loadings per week.

With the development of this project subsidised by the European Union and enhanced facilities at these two stations, over 1,500 trucks could be loaded in 2015 in total safety, which remains the number one priority at Elengy, an LNG terminal operator for 50 years. After achieving ISRS8© level-7 certification by DNV (International Safety Rating System), Elengy also had its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications renewed, including for LNG tanker-truck loading, demonstrating Elengy employees’ commitment and discipline to provide high-quality safe services to its customers.

By supplying LNG in small quantities, Elengy can meet demand from industrial users and remote towns not on the natural gas grid, LNG vehicle-fuel distribution stations, and LNG fuel bunkering for small ships. Expansion of this service has helped the industry switch to LNG to replace more-polluting fuels and to develop more-economical and environmentally friendly LNG fuel to support the energy transition. Elengy tripled the number of trucks loaded between 2014 and 2015 and plans to reach 5,000 by 2017.

The promising road-transported LNG market, and the LNG retail market in general, is estimated at 60 million metric tons annually in 2025 worldwide. This activity is expected to account for 15% of the global LNG market by 2025. Elengy is already positioned to meet the demand of these markets. The next step, after the LNG tanker-truck loading service, will be to reload small-scale tankers and bunker ships in particular to supply fuel to the largest ships.

* Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been liquefied by cooling it to minus 160°C. Natural gas in its liquefied form takes up 600 times less space than in its gaseous form. The transportation of natural gas in its liquid form at atmospheric pressure means tankers can ship large volumes of energy, providing an efficient and competitive means of transport with more diversified sources and supply routes, as well as access to remote gas reserves.
