The European Gas Regulatory Forum (or Madrid Forum) was created in 1999 by the European Commission to harmonise the rules governing the gas market in Europe and foster the emergence of a genuine European market.
Once or twice a year it brings together all players in the sector, including the European Commission, EU Member States, network operators, gas suppliers, customers and national regulatory authorities.
ERGEG is an advisory group created in 2003 by the European Commission. It brings together national regulatory authorities in gas and electricity and helps the Commission in its bid to consolidate the European market. It also ensures that European gas and electricity directives are applied in all Member States.
GIE is an independent association that represents the interests of enterprises that are members of the main European organisations.
It was created on 10 March 2005 and brings together 66 companies from 26 countries involved in gas supply infrastructure (transport, terminaling, and storage).
GLE (Gas LNG Europe) brings together European LNG terminal operators, with 15 members in 10 countries.
The European Association for the Streamlining of Energy Exchange works to develop and promote common trading practices with the aim of building an efficient and effective European gas market.
EASEE-gas members come from every segment of the gas production industry (producers, transporters, operators of retail networks, wholesalers and shippers, suppliers, LNG terminal operators, storage operators and end users).
